Sunday morning we decided to have an impromptu family photoshoot with the famous Texas bluebonnets. I guess we are true Texans now since we have family pictures with the state flower.

We definitely went at the perfect time because when we were finishing up four more families were setting up to take pictures. The lighting was perfect and we even got a decent family shot without a tripod using our self timer (I did have to photoshop out a dad who kept aimlessly wondering into the background of our picture though!).

I also had to walk down the hill of blue bonnets barefoot since I was wearing wedges and didn’t want to roll an ankle. The whole time I was praying I wouldn’t step in a fire ant mound or on something sharp. It was also wet but that didn’t stop me from sitting down. Sacrifice comfort for a great picture, right?!

I cannot get Theo to smile for pictures. EVER. We try to tickle him or toss him into the air but as soon as you stop, he has that scowl on his face. What gives?? I swear he’s a happy child, he’s just usually off in his own world and too busy to force a smile I guess. I am very envious of all you moms who can get your toddlers to smile! Respect! At least he’s happy during pictures, there was a family with a professional photographer trying to get a crying one-year-old to smile. Count my blessings I guess.

The weather is warming up in Houston and the flowers are in full bloom. If you’re in Texas, hopefully you can catch them, they really are beautiful.
